More the Cherokee Rose, Sam Houston, and Old Nacogdoches

Several weeks ago I came down with a very minor illness, non life threatening but the kind of thing that kept me indoors. And because I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t like to waste time, I decided to read books. Some I had never read before and others were books I wanted to read again. On the ‘read again’ list was “The Raven” by Marquis James. I first read it in 1980’s because a dear friend, Joyce Dodson, had recommended it to me. What a fine book it was. I reveled in the stories of Sam Houston, Andrew Jackson, the Cherokee Nation, Texas heroes and old Nacogdoches. On the rereading of that book, it all came back to me.
