Camellias- A little non-monogamous village

I have a friend who’s been growing camellias in his yard for decades. There in his backyard is a nice stand of mature camellias. Several of them make seed; and, as a result, there are baby camellias growing underneath them. (By the way, some camellias are sterile and some are not.) My friend, Bill Patton, dug up several of these little seedlings and gave them to me two years ago. We don’t know which of those mature camellias produced these babies (who’s papa? who’s mama?). All I can say is that it’s a little non-monogamous village back there.
…a photograph of one of those offspring. I’m thinking of naming it ‘Patton’, after Bill.
